The First Thanksgiving - 1621

The first Thanksgiving,
As you may know,
Was held by Pilgrims,
Long ago.

They sailed to America
To find new land,
They built log cabins,
Each by hand.

They planted seeds
In the early morn,
And learned from natives
All about corn.

When the harvest was over,
The Pilgrims were glad
As they looked at all
The food they had.

They had a party
To which everyone came,
And ate stewed pumpkin,
Corn, and game.

They also ate corn cakes
And berry pie,
All homemade –
There was nothing to buy.

Kids like you,
Ran to and fro,
Many, many years ago.
