Many of the activities on these pages may require adult supervision.
Be sure to tell a grown-up about what you're planning and ask for permission before getting started.

There's no reason why kids, especially older ones, can't learn to cook and cook quite well, boys and girls alike. Any boys who say, "boys don't cook" should remember that most of the world's greatest chefs are men. To any girls who are afraid of growing up and getting trapped in the kitchen, I would say, "Learn to cook anyway."
It's too much fun to miss. When you grow up and set up a household with someone, just make sure the two of you divide up tasks fairly.

When you cook, keep certain safety precautions in mind at all times.

Always be careful at the stove, whether you are frying tacos or reaching for a pot holder or lifting a cake out of the oven. When you handle kitchen tools, particularly knives but also bottle openers, graters, and other gadgets, pay attention. Have grown-ups help you with anything tricky or particularly dangerous. Don't cook by yourself unless you have a parent's permission.

Always wash your hands ahead of time, follow instructions, and clean up after yourself.
