Birthday Parties For Children

CAMOUFLAGE

Age level: 7 and up

Number of Players: 4 or more

What is Needed: items to hide (a ring, stamp, thimble, hairpin, paper clip, pencil, button, coin, rubberband, matchstick); for each player, a list of the hidden items and a pencil

Type of Game: competitive

Location: inside

HOW TO PLAY

Before the party, hide all the items in plain sight but against camouflaged backgrounds in one room. For example, place a copper penny on a copper lamp, a green stamp on a green book, a multicolored stamp on a floral drape, and a yellow pencil on a yellow couch. Tell the children, "You may not touch anything. Everything is in plain sight, but you have to look very, very carefully to see it. When you see something on your list, check it off. But first walk away so other players don't see where you found it. Keep your list to yourself. The first person who finds all the items wins. But everyone will have a chance to finish." There should be a first prize, a second prize, a third prize, and a booby prize. At the end of the game, the first players to finish help the last ones by giving them verbal clues.
