Birthday Parties For Children

FISH FOR PRESENTS

Age Level: 3 and up

Number of Players: 2 or more

What is Needed: a "fishing pole" (a branch, dowel, or yardstick with a string tied to it and a cup hook or hook bent from a paper clip tied to the end of the string); a large carton or small plastic swimming pool for a "pond"; presents wrapped in paper and ribbon

Type of Game: noncompetitive

Location: inside or outside

HOW TO PLAY

Each child has a turn to fish for a present, which is snared when the hook catches onto a bow. (Make sure the bows are "catchable.") The child lifts the present out of the pool with the fishing pole and keeps the present.

It's a good idea for the presents to be things the children can use at the party: crayons, Matchbox cars, water pistols, jars of bubble-blowing liquid, and so on.
