Birthday Parties For Children

 

HOW LONG IS A MINUTE?

Age Level: 3 and up

Number of Players: 2 or more

What Is Needed: a stopwatch or clock with a second hand

Type of Game: competitive or noncompetitive

Location: inside or outside

HOW TO PLAY

Ask the children to sit down and shut their eyes. Tell them that when you say, "Go," they should start counting slowly to 60 because there are 60 seconds in a minute. As soon as they think one minute is up, they are to raise their hands.

COMPETITIVE VERSION

Whoever raises his or her hand 60 seconds later, or closest to 60 seconds later, wins.

NONCOMPETITIVE VERSION

Whoever raises his or her hand 60 seconds later, or closest to 60 seconds later, is congratulated. Then players shut their eyes and try again. Play until the children tire of the game.
