Birthday Parties For Children

RING, RING, WHO HAS THE RING?

Age Level: 5 and up

Number of Players: 6 or more

What Is Needed: a ring, a button, or a washer strung on a string that is long enough to go around the circle the children form

Type of Game: noncompetitive

Location: inside or outside

HOW TO PLAY

Have all the children form a circle around It (the birthday child first). Give them the circle of string and have them stand back with their arms out and touching, holding the string taut. The ring should be hidden in one player's hand. (Ask It to close his or her eyes while the ring is hidden.) The children keep sliding their hands back and forth along the string, secretly passing the ring along. Once they have the knack of this, It can open his or her eyes and try to guess who has the ring. If It guesses correctly, the person who has the ring becomes the next It. If It guesses incorrectly, the game continues.
