Birthday Parties For Children

SEVEN-UP

Age Level: 4 and up

Number of Players: 5 or more

What Is Needed: nothing

Type of Game: noncompetitive

Location: inside or outside

HOW TO PLAY

Divide the children into two uneven groups (for six children, divide into a group of four and a group of two; for seven children divide into a group of three and a group of four, and so on). The larger of the two groups sits down, and each person shuts his or her eyes. The other children stand next to one another in a line. When an adult says, "Go," one by one the children standing creep up to a player and tap him or her on the head and then return to line. When all the standing players have tapped sitting players, the adult tells the sitting players to open their eyes. Now all the sitting players who were tapped are asked to stand up. One by one they try to guess who tapped them. If a player guesses correctly, he or she changes places with that person. If a player guesses incorrectly, he or she sits down and waits to play the next round.
