Birthday Parties For Children

SPIN THE DREIDEL

Age level: 5 and up

Number of Players: 2 or more

What is Needed: a dreidel (from your local party or gift store), pennies or gold-wrapped coins

Type of Game: competitive

Location: inside or outside

Dreidel Characters

HOW TO PLAY

Distribute pennies or coins - an equal number to each child. Have each child put one coin into the "kitty". Take turns spinning the dreidel. The letter facing up determines that child's outcome for that turn. Nun = do nothing. Gimel = take everything. Hey = take one half of the kitty. Shin = put one penny or coin into the kitty. Players who run out of coins are eliminated. The game is over when one player has everything and the others have no coins remaining. You might want to set a time limit, or a limit on the number of rounds.
