Birthday Parties For Children

WHO AM I?

Age Level: 8 and up

Number of Players: 2 or more

What is Needed: cards with names of famous people or characters on them, tape

Type of Game: competitive or noncompetitive

Location: inside or outside

HOW TO PLAY

As each guest arrives, tape a card with a famous name on it to each person's back, but don't tell what the card says. Each guest has to figure out who he or she is by asking others at the party yes-or-no questions about the person. For example, "Am I a man?" "Am I under the age of 15? "Am I in sports?" "Do I have blond hair?"

COMPETITIVE VERSION

The first person to figure out who he or she is wins. The last person gets a booby prize.

NONCOMPETITIVE VERSION

Play until everyone finds out who he or she is. Perhaps give everyone something (a stick of gum, a gold star on the forehead) at the moment of discovery.

This is often a good game to play at the beginning of a party, especially if guests don't know each other. It helps everyone gets acquainted.
