Zoo Party

 

MENU

Animal Cake. Bake and frost a cake. Decorate it with animal crackers frosted in contrasting colors.

Ice cream cones

Juice, milk, punch

DECORATIONS

Cover the table with newspaper. With a black marker draw big stripes across the table. As the guests come in, ask them to draw zoo animals behind the black bars. Provide crayons and colored markers.

Put a box of animal crackers at each place, with the child's name on it.

FAVORS, PRIZES, ITEMS FOR TREAT BAGS

Animal crackers, popcorn, balls, rubber snakes, small plastic zoo animals, bird whistles, crayons, markers, pipe cleaners

INSIDE GAMES AND ACTIVITIES, NONCOMPETITIVE

1. Make animal masks from paper bags. Provide construction paper, children's scissors, crayons, tape, pipe cleaners, paste.

2. Make animals from pipe cleaners and put them in berry-basket cages. Set up a little table-top zoo.

INSIDE GAMES, COMPETITIVE

1. Candy Hunt

2. Pin the Trunk on the Elephant. Play like Pin the Tail on the Donkey.

3. Drop the Clothespins in the Bottle.

OUTSIDE GAME, NONCOMPETITIVE

Animal Cracker Hunt. Play like a Candy Hunt. Hide as many boxes of crackers as there are children at the party. At the end everyone hunts for the hardest-to-find boxes so that everyone has one to keep.

OUTSIDE GAMES, COMPETITIVE

1. May I? Play like Giant Steps. Make up various animal steps for the game.

2. Red Rover. Pretend to be animals trying to get out of cages.

3. Relay Races. Have animal names for each team.
